Datuk
Dr. Baljit Singh Sidhu is the Managing Partner of the
law firm Shukor Baljit & Partner. Datuk Dr. Baljit Singh
obtained his LL.B (Hons) from the University of London
and thereafter securing his Certificate of Legal Practice
from the Qualifying Board. He was called to the Bar in
February 1997. He also hold a Masters of Laws degree (LL.M)
from University of Malaya majoring in Company Law. Datuk
Dr. Baljit had also successfully obtained a Postgraduate
Diploma in Syariah Law & Practice (DSLP) from International
Islamic University. He has also completed his doctoral
degree in Constitutional law and was awarded the degree
of Doctor of Philosophy in Law (PhD) from International
Islamic University. Besides, he is also a Commissioner
for Oaths and a Certified Mediator.
Datuk
Dr. Baljit Singh is versatile in his practice of law.
He has experiences in litigation matters and is equally
at ease with non- contentious matters. He has appeared
in Court in cases involving sales of goods, insurance
claims as well as banking related claims. His area of
expertise includes securities regulation and securities
litigation having handled various cases involving securities.
His
area of expertise is the Criminal Litigation, offering
advice as well as representations in multifarious matters
including drug related offences, white collar crimes and
securities regulations and capital market offences. He
was appointed as a representative of the Malaysian Bar
Council for the consultative process by the Select Parliamentary
Committee on the amendments to the Penal Code and Criminal
Procedure Code. He used to be the Chairman of the Criminal
Practice Committee of the Kuala Lumpur Bar and sits in
the Criminal Committee of the Malaysian Bar as the Deputy
Chairman.
In
February 2012, Datuk Dr. Baljit was admitted to the Supreme
Court of Brunei Darussalam. Besides, he was also conferred
the Honorary rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police
(ACP) by the Royal Malaysian Police. He is currently a
member of the advisory panel of Malaysian Anti-Corruption
Commission (MACC) and is also the Co-Deputy Chairperson
of Ad Hoc Committee of Anti Money Laundering Act (AMLA).

Datuk
Dr. Baljit is the chairperson of Disciplinary Committee Football
Association of Malaysia [FAM]. In 2019, he was appointed as the
President of Sports Law Association of Malaysia (2019). He is
also a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Bar Council.
Apart
from that, Datuk Dr. Baljit shares the same interest in writing.
He writes regularly to law journals and has published a textbook
now being used in all the institutions of higher learning having
law program; Criminal Litigation Process, which is now in its
4th Edition (2022).
Datuk
Dr. Baljit Singh Sidhu is also a lecturer in Brickfield Asia College
since 2009. Datuk Dr. Baljit Singh Sidhu has training experience
for Certificate of Legal Practise Programme under Legal Profession
Qualifying Board.
For
his services to the community, Datuk Dr. Baljit Singh was awarded
the "Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka" from the Governor of
Melaka in 2008.
